Nijo Castle entrance
If you look at the map that you enter from the main gate, Higashi-Otemon, paying a ticket fee of 1030 yen, you can see that the site is large and there is an inner moat in the outer moat, so you can see the impression that the castle was built for defense.
Nijo Castle Karamon
Karamon is an important cultural property of Japan and is decorated with colorful sculptures such as cranes and lions. If you pass through this gate, you will find the main Ninomaru Palace of Nijo Castle.
Nijo Castle Ninomaru Palace
There is no castle tower like the Ninomaru Palace of Nijo Castle, the world heritage site Himeji Castle, and the popular Osaka Castle, which is a place where history has changed. It looks low compared to the castle, but unfortunately the inside of the castle cannot be photographed.
The inside of the castle was gorgeous and the paintings of fusuma were gorgeous, and I was fascinated.
Nijo Castle Ninomaru Garden
There is a pond in the center, there are many trees and it is refreshing, and it is comfortable just to be there
Nijo Castle Castle ruins

Nijo Castle souvenir shop
Products from Kyoto were on sale. I bought and ate conger tempura and fried conger. I ate it with salt. Kyoto is also famous for its conger dishes and the taste was delicious.
Impressions of Nijo Castle
I like places where history has changed, and Nijo Castle is an indispensable place in Japanese history. I couldn’t take a picture, but even if I look at the barrier painting in the Ninomaru Palace, it is gorgeous and well preserved, and when I understand the meaning of the painting in history, I feel like I can feel my thoughts. Nijo Castle was a place where you could spend a good time, learning the history and having a beautifully maintained site.
